Why An Alien Golf X-Change Putter System?
The last industry study on the purchase habits of golfers in regards to putters found that in the average adult golfer’s lifetime, they purchased 21.3 putters. Amazing when you consider there was no other club even close to this number. Not wedges, not drivers, not of sets of clubs.
Why is this?
- Golfers blamed their poor putting on the equipment, and not themselves or failure
to practice more.
- If a golfer plays multiple courses, the speed of the greens they play can change
dramatically. Thus one putter (heavier head weight, moderate weight, or standard
weight) can not match all green speeds encountered. So poor putting is normal if
only one putter is used on all courses by an amateur. Thus a player may need to
experiment/purchase new equipment to compensate for their lack of consistancy.
- Day to day, a golfer’s feel/sensitivities change. Sometimes a standard weight putter will feel too light, and changing models in order to compensate for this means the player will opt for another model so as to roll the ball consistant distances. The opposite is true if the putter feels too heavy in the player’s hands.
- Golfers change putters to gain new sensory input (as with weight above) and this is true with visual input as well. Matching the alignment scoring, and body style to the “visual agreement” their mind gives them that day, can help with both accuracy
and confidence on the course.
- Sometimes the golfer needs a fresh “psychological” lift by switching away from the
putter that “failed them last round” and into a new putter with a fresh “future”.
- Whatever the reason given, as to why golfers purchase so many putters, their patterns physical and psychological are real to themselves.
